What Is Film Faced Plywood
Film faced plywood, also called shuttering plywood, is a waterproof engineered wood panel designed for concrete formwork. It is made of cross-laminated wood veneers, hot-pressed with phenolic film on both sides. This structure gives the panel a smooth, hard-wearing and water-resistant surface. You can also check our plywood product page for related wood panel solutions.
Compared with ordinary plywood, our film faced plywood performs better under wet construction conditions. It prevents concrete from sticking to the surface and supports multiple reuse cycles. Therefore, it is widely used for building slabs, columns, walls and infrastructure formwork.
Core Advantages of Film Faced Plywood
Waterproof phenolic film surface for long service life in wet formwork conditions
Smooth demolding surface, reduces concrete adhesion and post-casting finishing
Reusable film faced plywood for several concrete pouring cycles
Cross-laminated veneer structure, high strength and good anti-deformation performance
Good nail holding capacity, easy to cut and process on site
Optional anti-slip film surface for special construction safety requirements
Strong bonding strength, less delamination under wet and heavy load
Edge-sealed treatment, reduces water absorption during use
Standard Specifications & Customizable Parameters
We supply film faced plywood for concrete formwork, with customizable sizes and thickness options.
Standard size: 1220×2440mm / 1250×2500mm
Thickness: 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 21mm
Core material: Poplar, Eucalyptus, Birch, Pine optional
Glue: WBP waterproof phenolic glue
Film color: Black film / Brown film
Surface: Smooth film / Anti-slip film
Edge treatment: Sealed paint edge
Reuse times: 6–15 times depending on project condition
Every sheet of film faced plywood goes through hot pressing, edge sealing and final inspection. The sealed edges help resist moisture and extend service life.
Stable Performance of Film Faced Plywood
Our film faced plywood uses WBP waterproof phenolic adhesive. The cross-veneer structure balances internal stress and reduces warping during concrete pouring. The phenolic film protects the panel from water and concrete erosion.
Because of this structure, film faced plywood keeps stable flatness and strength in humid environments. Therefore, it helps reduce surface repair work and improves construction efficiency.
Application Scenarios of Film Faced Plywood
Our film faced plywood is suitable for many construction formwork applications:
- Concrete formwork for high-rise residential buildings
- Slab, wall, column and beam formwork
- Bridge, tunnel and highway infrastructure projects
- Water conservancy and civil engineering works
- Basement and commercial building construction
- Precast concrete production
Quality Control for Film Faced Plywood
All film faced plywood sheets are made with selected veneers and high-quality phenolic film. We control the drying, gluing, hot pressing and edge sealing processes carefully.
Each batch passes bonding strength, water resistance, flatness and surface wear tests. In this way, we provide stable quality and reduce the risk of delamination or deformation on site.
